The 10 mag star TYC 1879-02151-1 was occulted at 01:32 UT by the minor planet (144) Vibilia. I captured the event with my 40 cm newtonian telescope and my CCD camera using the technique of drift scan imaging from my location at Gnosca, in Switzerland. In this occultation image, the horizontal trace shows the 5.1 s brightness drop of the star.

The third positive occultation: march 11 2005.

The minor planet (1315) Bronislawa occulted the 10 mag star TYC 0799-01487-1. The duration was 9.1 s and the brightness drop about 5 mag. The driftscan picture shows this event. I captured the event with my 40 cm newtonian telescope and the CCD camera using the technique of drift scan imaging from my location at Gnosca in Switzerland. In the center of the image the 10 mag star and down left the 15 mag asteroid. I shot this image roughly 1 hour before the occultation. In the occultation image, the horizontal trace shows the 9.1 s brightness drop of the occulted star. North is up, East is left.

The first positive occultation: january 7 2000.

The star GSC 2470 00150 was occulted by (423) Diotima. At 21:42 UT, I captured the stellar occultation of the 12,5 mag asteroid (423) Diotima. The 11,5 mag occulted star was GCS 2470:150. I captured the event with a fixed telescope letting the stars trail on the CCD frame. The trace at the center of the 80 seconds image is that of the star.  At the center one can see the 1 mag luminosity fall due to the asteroid passing OVER the star. This event lasted roughly 10 seconds. The friend Andrea Manna observed visually from about 10 km distance and confirmed the occultation. The field of view is about 20 x 20 arcminutes.
